i've decided to start reading Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen again. gave up a few weeks back. the complete & unabridged version is such an arduous literary read, literally. but yea, i have to continue..or else i'd never know the ending, well probably i could just watch the movie. hee hee
anyways i've come across Jean-Jacques Rousseau's philosophy of amour-propre and amour de soi. i won't pretend to know the full subject matter but amour-propre is very intriguing. french for respect for oneself; self-esteem. typical of any teen, i wikipedia-ed it and according to what i've read so far, amour de soi is a positive self-love whereas amour-propre is "not natural but articifial and forces man to compare himself to others, thus creating unwarranted fear.." i have always had self-esteem issues but now i have a nicer way to put it!! now i lack amore-propre ahahahahhaha
will blog later in the day. got work to do.
