and it's amazing.. every night i come back home late, i'd spend hours on the phone w der. we debated abt marriage(not between us, just marriage in general) last night. i've realised i've had a pretty skewed perspective towards marriages.
der: you want to marry at what age?
me: 30.
der: [...silence...] wish more girls are like you. everyone (girls) want/ need to marry at 25-27
me: [...shOck...] what the? really? isn't that a little young?der: there are ppl that get married at 18.
me: oh....
der: engagement's are a waste of time & money. wish i didn't have to get engaged.
me: waste time & money? no what- guy proposes, girl accepts. guy and girl tell parents. what time & money?
der: [...shocked...] 'scuse me that's not an engagement is.
me: [...shocked~er...] huh????
der: let me tell you. guy asks girls parents. they accept. ok get engaged. invite relatives, exchange gifts, get clothes, photographer yadayada
me: huh???? where got? i thought it's just meant to be a private thing?
der: you wish.
me: ak. that's it i'm definitely NOT marrying a malay man
me: my wedding will just be one dinner at a hotel. his close family/friends, my close family/friends. THAT'S IT. no two separate events occurring simultaneously (one guy's side one girl's side)
der: YOUR mother so understanding ah?
me: ya. why le? what's wrong?
der: my parent's won't allow. in the very least will have the separate events and the hotel thing for the bride/groom to decide.
me: huh? where can. then you invite about a thousand ppl who you probably don't even recognise who come just to eat the food you pay, criticise the thank you gift... for what....!
der: exactly. but that's what my parent's will want.
me: sad. GOOD LUCK THOUGH! now i'm certain i'm not marrying no malay guy.
see didn't i tell you my perspective to marriages are a little skewed???
hahahah good luck der!!!!
